Player Characters
Lady Lucy Ackroyd (she/her)
Age: 19
Player: Hannah B (she/her)
Email: lucy_ackroyd@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: Lucy is a timid young lady who is debuting, hailing from the noble Ackroyd family. She is the only daughter of Roger and Constance Ackroyd. Lucy's parents are overly protective and spoil Lucy rotten, but she herself is kind-hearted. She has lived a sheltered but immensely privileged life away from the Ton and so her debut is her entering proper society for the first time.
Lady Temperance “Tempy” Ackroyd (she/her)
Age: 37
Player: Tamsin C (she/her)
Email: temperance_ackroyd@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: The Ackroyd family believe their sister, Temperance, has most likely perished overseas, as no word has been heard from her for four years. While she has not yet met the criteria to be declared legally dead, the family hold little hope for Temperance's safe return. The Ackroyd family request that the Ton respect their privacy in this time of grief, and ask that those who are so inclined pray for the safe deliverance of Temperance's soul.
Mr. Bastable (he/him)
Age: 45
Player: James P (he/him)
Email: mr_bastable@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: The Darling family butler is virtually ubiquitous in the family's day-to-day affairs. One might catch sight of him anywhere in their Ramsbridge Estate, attending to the needs of guests, calmly instructing the staff, and even sometimes assisting in their roles directly, no matter how mundane the task. He even doubles as Earl Darling's valet, and has been known to attend various social events in this role.
But even at the most prestigious of occasions, it seems Mr. Bastable has no name to make for himself. He is no more and no less than his master's servant. For what else could a butler be?
Lt. Sir Archibald "Archie" Blagdon Westcott(they/them)
Age: 40
Player: Phil B (they/them)
Email: archie_blagdon_westcott@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: The fourth child of a minor noble family from outside London, Archie was invalided out of the Navy following an injury sustained in the Battle of Trafalgar. Since their recovery, they have been a feature of the Ton, taking a small house in Kensington and regaling all who will listen with their tales of adventure and exploration in Africa and Asia, and even the occasional trip to the Americas in their youth. They have a bit of a reputation for having had Dalliances on those trips, so are widely considered to be far too much of a rake to be a viable prospect, even were they not so long in the tooth, but are always entertaining.
They suffered quite significant burns and other injuries in the battle, requiring a cane to walk since.
Harriet Bodley (she/her)
Age: 27
Player: Anna R (they/she)
Email: harriet_bodley@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: A relative of the renownd Bodley family of Harrogate, recently arrived to be a governess in the Ton to the Chesterton family. She's very open and friendly, though a little ditzy. Appears to be wasting her time playing governess and spending her trust fund until something or someone better comes along.
Baron Jean Guillaume Chevalier (he/him)
Age: 37
Player: Juju F (they/them)
Email: jean_guillaume_chevalier@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: Baron Jean-Guillaume Chevalier is a chemist, physicist, and natural philosopher associated with the Romantic movement. He is renowned for demonstrating that urea can be synthesised from inorganic compounds, proving that it may be produced in the laboratory rather than through a mysterious ““vital force.”” He is also credited with achieving the first sustained electrolysis of water.
He is born to a noble father and a common-born mother and his name comes from Huguenot ancestry, which fled France following the revolution.
Having recently acquired a voltaic pile, he has devoted the past several months to securing patronage for his experiments in electricity, convinced that it heralds the next great revolution. Thus far, he has found no success.
Despite his peculiar passions and eccentric reputation, Baron Chevalier is an engaging conversationalist, an enthusiastic collector of gossip, and an ardent charmer.
Countess Georgianna Delacey (nee Darling) (she/her)
Age: 25
Player: Charlotte N (she/her)
Email: georgianna_darling@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: Georgianna Darling has been absent from the Ton after a five year “visit to her aunt in France”, but now she's back on the scene with a new surname and a lot of audacity. Her cunning eye, sharp tongue, and effortless (and shameless) attempts at seduction beg the question… what was she getting up to in Paris?
Dowager Count Christmas Darling (he/him)
Age: 44
Player: Elynor K (she/they)
Email: christmas_darling@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: The Dowager Christmas Darling is a society papa determined to achieve favourable matches for his children. He is strict and proper, to the point where there is a rumour he only smiles when society deems it appropriate to do so.
His wife, Countess of Ramsbridge Prudence Darling, passed away a little over a year ago. He mourned for the exactly proper amount of time. Currently, he manages the affairs of the Darling household, waiting for his eldest to be ready to take her place as the next Countess.
Lady Henrietta Darling (she/her)
Age: 18
Player: Izzy D (they/them)
Email: henrietta_darling@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: Lady Henrietta Darling is the youngest daughter of the late Prudence Darling, Countess of Ramsbridge, and Christmas Darling. This social season marks her debut and though she has had little involvement in the Ton previously, with her older sister Georgianna abroad in Paris, there are high expectations that she should make quite an eligible match for a lucky suitor.
Major General Baroness Alexandra Fortescue (she/her)
Age: 42
Player: Lisa K (she/her)
Email: alexandra_fortescue@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: Major General Alexandra Fortescue (3rd Baroness of Wilmington) is a figure long absent from social circles due to her involvement in various military campaigns of the last decade. Known as an austere and serious figure, she is rarely too welcome a sight in the Ton, especially by those debuting and yearning to find their way in life. Nevertheless, her impressive military reputation has led to any number of people wanting to ride her coat-tails to social, political and military success.
Parthenia Fortescue (she/her)
Age: 18
Player: Maisie M (she/her)
Email: parthenia_fortescue@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: The Hon. Parthenia Fortescue, heir apparent to the title of Baroness of Wilmington, is about to make her debut in society this social season. With her mother away with the military and her mama absorbed by their country estate, Miss Fortescue is accompanied by her weary governess of many years, instead. In shopping for the balls to come, the glimpses the Ton has had of her are the inverse of the stern decorum her mother embodies. Miss Fortescue seems to care far more about the brightest dresses, the newest scandals, the handsomest eligibles, or the silliest games to play, than how important it is to marry well and put on a respectable front. What sort of naïve foolishness might she get herself into this year?
Mrs. Amelia Larkins (陳梅)(she/her)
Age: 19
Player: Ruoqi H (she/they)
Email: amelia_larkins@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: Mrs. Larkins is new to the Ton. In fact, everything about this land is new to her. The breeze from the River Thames reminded her of the days pacing along the Pearl River. The gloomy weather made her missing those sunny afternoons sitting under the storefront overhangs. Here she is, all by herself, and all she had was herself, at least that's what she believes.
Colonel Charles FitzRoy Montague (he/they)
Age: 27
Player: Chavin B (he/they)
Email: charles_montague@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: Charles FitzRoy Montague is the twenty-seven-year-old eldest of the Montague triplets, born to Earl William Cavendish Montague and Countess Sophia Maria FitzRoy.
Though neither the wealthiest or most politically influential families of the Ton, the Montagues have long earned distinction through generations of military service to the Crown. The family maintains a country estate in Somerset as well as a townhouse in London.
Charles is Colonel in the British Army and previously saw action in Canada during the War of 1812. Meanwhile, his twin sisters are infamous among the Ton for ruining the family's reputation. Charlotte, the middle sister, was known for dishonorable action at the Battle of Trafalgar which eventually led them to seek a new career as the “Black Countess” corsair in the Caribbean. Meanwhile, Charity, the youngest sister, ran away with a daughter of the Ton before dying in a duel overseas.
Now returned to England, injured but well-decorated with military honour, Charles faces a different kind of battle. As heir to the Montague title, he bears the burden of securing a suitable marriage and restoring his family's reputation previously ruined by his rebellious twin sisters.
Walter J. Nevill-Fox (he/it)
Age: 26
Player: Poe H (it/its)
Email: walter_nevill_fox@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: Walter (or James if you’re lucky) is not the most convivial of the near-endless names among the Ton. Several hobbies to its name, it used to focus on maintaining fewer, closer relationships of many kinds (in part due to the fact he’s terrible with names, but don’t tell him that!). He’s attending these in hope of this changing: “Expanding his social circle outside his incredibly quiet life” - or so he says. It’s quick to criticise others’ tastes in partners, offering a carefully curated selection of symbolic flowers to “help destiny cross their paths”. He also cares a great deal about music, hoping to show off “the pinnacle of cello” - taught by a local great - to whoever takes his fancy. Depending on who attends, this might be a total waste of time…
Hopefully, the days of him alone with his nagging siblings are soon to be over!
Arthur Penningway (they/them)
Age: 30
Player: Mike C (he/him)
Email: arthur_penningway@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: Arthur Penningway (of the Hampshire Penningways) is a well to do heir of a minor noble house. They have great enthusiasm, if no particular talent or charm - though that still puts them leagues ahead in terms of societal acceptability over their sibling, who has fallen into enough disrepute to be no longer welcome in the Ton.
Father Vincent Prakash (he/him)
Age: 27
Player: Reb B (they/her)
Email: vincent_prakash@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: The third and youngest ward of the wealthy Mrs and Mrs Prakash, Vincent was educated at Eton, read Literae humaniores at Oxford, and has recently attained a position as curate of Mayfair parish, London, assisting the vicar (Father Wesley) as he makes preparations to retire. Mr Prakash is a soft-spoken, eccentric man with a slightly off-putting demeanour but does his best to always make time for those who wish to unburden themselves. His - increasingly less rare - sermons are unusual but well-meaning in content and tone, demonstrating both the greenness of youth and an intuition befitting an older gentleman.
Duke Henry Starling (he/him)
Age: 24
Player: Gemma C (she/her)
Email: henry_starling@season.oxfordlarp.com
About: After the tragic and sudden death of both of his parents, Duke Henry Starling was suddenly rushed back from his military post overseas to take leadership of the sizeable Starling estate.
It is not known how well the young Duke is handling his newfound responsibilities, but it is known that when he does arrive to the season he arrives single, with a considerable estate and a sizeable dowry, as does his younger brother Albion, making his debut this season.
