====== Intro to the Wiki System ====== This page is here to explain what the wiki is used for in this style of game. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact GM Isla by email or on Discord! ===== The Wiki ===== The wiki is primarily used to store all the information you need to know about the game's setting in one place (at game start, anyway; as the game progresses, the information may become out of date, and you will need to find in-game sources to keep up). Also, the wiki is used for players to submit their Turnsheets, which is how I facilitate actions between sessions (see the page on Turnsheets and Emails). You won't be able to edit most of the pages on the wiki — the GM keeps on top of that — but you will be able to edit the Turnsheets and other pages in your user space, as well as the Playground, which is an OC page for game-related stuff. To get to your user page, you need to use the buttons at the top right of the page to log in, and then navigate the wiki. Most formatting that you may want to put into a page can be accessed by the buttons in the toolbar. Alternatively, details of the wiki syntax can be found on the syntax page. ===== User Accounts and Character Pages ===== Once you have come up with a character concept and gone through the Character Creation process, you will need to submit a character via the character creation form. If you are balloted to participate, you will receive confirmation and an email for your wiki account before the start of the game. This will be under the name of your character (if you are a player), and will provide you with access to a user page with Turnsheets and up to date information about all of the mechanical details of your character. If you are a crew member, your wiki account will be under the name of ‘crew_X’, where X is your out-of-character first name. The user page is private, so only you can see it — you cannot see the user pages of any other players. You can, however, see their public bios in the Player Characters page, and will be required to submit your own as part of character creation. ===== Turnsheets ===== On your user page should be a series of red links, named 'Turnsheet #'. These link to pages that don't exist yet, so when you are ready to begin writing up your actions, click on the link for that week and then click 'Create this page' on the right-hand toolbar on the subsequent page. The Turnsheet will have a template prepared to show you the basic layout. Please try to stick to the format as much as possible, though if you need to do something different then make sure it's clear to the GM what you are trying to do. Please **don't delete the tags at the bottom** or I won't be able to process your Turnsheet! Once you have written everything up, click the save button to create the page so that you (and the GM) can see it. You may want to click preview first to make sure everything reads like you hope it would, but do remember to save it afterwards. You can return to edit this page, as long as this is before the deadline on the Turnsheets and Emails page — nothing will be taken as final by the GM until then. ===== Emails ===== When a user account is created, you'll also receive an email address in the form [your character]@season.oxfordlarp.com (for player) or [crew_X]@season.oxfordlarp.com (for crew), where X is your out-of-character first name. If you want to send emails to someone, email **their XXX@season.oxfordlarp.com** address from **your standard email address** (Gmail, Outlook, etc.). This is the address you used in the character creation form. Any emails sent to a XXX@season.oxfordlarp.com email from your account will appear to come from your **character** email. Your OC email address will not be displayed, though your OC name might be. Any email sent to an XXX@season.oxfordlarp.com address will be automatically copied to the GM, but not to crew — if you want to arrange out of character activities with another person, then it's best to ask whoever you are getting in touch with for an alternative means of contact. This system allows you to have IC conversations outside of session without any other characters seeing them, but still allows the GM to keep track of everything happening. Because of this, all in-character discussion outside of session should be done through the email system.
